The Union Bears had their banner intended for display in their Scottish Cup clash with Raith Rovers removed due to its "highly offensive" nature, Record Sport understands.
Usually a vocal presence in the lower left tier of the Broomloan stand at Ibrox, the fans’ group boycotted the game after they had their message removed by the club. Instead the supporters stood outside the ground as Michael Beale's men commenced action against Championship opposition. The Union Bears had aimed a dig at the club's board at their last home game against Kilmarnock, claiming they took their eye 'off the ball' in wake of 2021's title victory.
Their latest protest comes off the back of a removal of banners, but Record Sport believes its subject was nothing to do with an anti-board message or even the club in general. Instead it is believed to be one that was offensive in nature, according to a Rangers insider.
Goals from Connor Goldson and James Tavernier have put Beale's side into a commanding last eight position. Inverness and Celtic are already in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
