The reason for Jose Cifuentes' Rangers transfer delay detailed

The reason for Jose Cifuentes' Rangers transfer delay has been revealed, according to a report.

It's believed that a deal for the midfielder to join the Ibrox club will be completed very soon.

Reports first emerged weeks ago to state that Michael Beale would seal a deal for the 24-year-old this summer.

It's understood his agent has recently visited the Rangers Training Centre for a tour of the facilities. The Ecuadorian certainly looks set to join the club in the near future.

According to a report from Mr Offsider in South America, a deal is '95%' done, with the words 'casi seguro' which means 'almost surely' in English.

But the reason for the delay in an announcement has been brought to light, says the source.

Cifuentes will play for Los Angeles FC in the CONCACAF Champions League final in early June.

LAFC will compete in the continental final over two legs against Mexican outfit Leon. The games will take place on June 1 and 5.

After the completion of these games, it's likely that Rangers will get the go-ahead to negotiate a transfer fee with the MLS side.

Cifuentes will become Beale's third signing of the summer, with Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling having already joined.

The midfielder is a full international for Ecuador and featured for his county at last year's World Cup.

He had one goal and four assists to his name this term for LAFC.
