Living near picturesque parks, having good transport links and being near the A52 are all things residents love about living in Toton. It's a ‘quiet’ village where not much happens, and has a population of approximately 7,298.
The village, where Wollaton-born actress Vicky McClure now lives, has four schools and three churches. The village also has its own cricket and football teams too.
People who live in the village have spoken out about what it’s like to live there. Self-employed Hannah Houghton, 39, said: “It’s quiet here, there’s not much but what we do have is enough.

“When I first moved here, I was very happy to be on the A52 and the public transport isn’t bad either.” Hannah continued: “For a treat, my family and I love to go to The Manor [pub in Nottingham Road] and the Attenborough Nature Reserve is nearby too which is great for walking.”
Retired teacher Sue Thomas, 58, who has lived in Toton for most of her life, said: “I’ve never had a problem in Toton, not with parking, litter or anything like that. It’s lovely here.
“I have a grandson who wants to go into the military when he’s older and he reminds me every time we go past the Military Preparation College. I like taking my dogs to the Manor Farm Recreation park with my husband, we’ve had many walks there.”
Sue continued: “Although Toton is further out, there’s still lots here and there’s the tram which always comes in handy if I don’t fancy driving.”
Trams started operating in Toton back in 2015 when the network was extended. At the Toton Lane Tram Stop there are also businesses including Alfie’s Tea Room and vintage shop Something Different.
George Roberts, 68, who lives in Stapleford, regularly visits Toton as it isn’t far. He said: “I have friends in Toton and good memories here too. I come to the village at least 3 or 4 times a week. It’s a very clean area, people look after their surroundings.”
