Queen Elizabeth II has been on the throne for seventy years, and that significant anniversary is being celebrated across the UK with the Platinum Jubilee.
A four-day weekend beginning on Thursday June 2 will commence to commemorate the occasion, with events planned all across the UK. And there is plenty to do and see for families across the North East, with Newcastle, Gateshead, County Durham, Northumberland and Sunderland all hosting their own celebrations in their respective town and city centres.
A total of 200 community groups have received funding from Northumberland County Council's £70,000 Jubilee Fund to help them put on events in towns and villages across the county. So as well as the events included on our list, there's sure to be something going on near you - here's a round up of what's happening in Northumberland.
