The Queen's outrageously filthy confession to Alan Titchmarsh as she shook his hand

Television presenter Alan Titchmarsh and the Queen have struck up a close bond over the years.

The 73-year-old will be part of the hosting team for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration on Sunday night.

The monarch and Alan's close relationship makes him perfectly suited for the presenting role - especially as the 96-year-old seems to have a soft spot for the British gardener.

In honour of the upcoming celebrations, he revealed an insight into the Queen's secretly filthy confession that was shared with him.

Alan gave an insight into Her Majesty's humour while speaking ahead of ITV's big TV extravaganza.

He said: "I've been lucky enough to meet Her Majesty many times both formally and informally and have sat next to her at lunch on a couple of occasions where I enjoyed wide-ranging conversations.

"I treasure the MBE that Her Majesty pinned on me in the Millennium New Year Honours and also the remark she made as she shook my hand."

"I had talked to the Sandringham Women's Institute a few weeks before my investiture and The Queen, as a member, was in the audience. It seemed to go down well and The Queen laughed in all the right places," he added.

"As she shook my hand at the investiture she said: 'Well, you give a lot of ladies a lot of pleasure.' I am still smiling."

Alan first met Her Majesty and Prince Philip through presenting TV coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show, striking up a relationship with Prince Charles soon after.

During an interview with the Mirror in 2020, he reminisced a day at Westminster Abbey that was "very special" to him.

"I’d approached Westminster Abbey about possibly erecting a plaque in honour of Lancelot Brown, one of Britain’s finest landscapers," he said.

The idea "turned out wonderfully" and Alan was invited to attend the ceremony where it opened.

"Here in the gallery room, the Prince of Wales commented that my tie was the same colour as the Queen’s suit," he continued.

"I made a joke and said I’d called ahead and discussed it with her, and that’s what we’re having a chuckle about.

"Moments like this I’m always waiting for someone to say, ‘You’re not supposed to be here!’."

He added: "So I’m lucky I’ve always had such stimulating experiences. As for the kids, they don’t care. ‘Oh, it’s just Dad!’ is all they say."

In June, the jubilee will bring a host o f festivities to honour the Queen, who became the longest-serving British monarch ever in February, notching up 70 loyal and tireless years on the throne.

Alan will be presenting the entire pageant from Wednesday to Saturday and his hosting duties will continue through to Sunday, where Her Majesty's horses and carriages will be involved.

"The Royal Mews has always been a place close to my heart - I used to ride quite a lot and have even ridden with the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery in their famous gun-carriage exercise," he told ITV.

"I'm delighted to be taking part in the Platinum Jubilee Pageant at Windsor, not least because I am a regular attender at the Royal Windsor Horse Show and have also been involved in presenting the pageant at The Queen's Diamond Jubilee and Her Majesty's 90th Birthday Celebration."

He added: "I'm honoured to have been asked back!"

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration airs Sunday 15th May on ITV and ITV Hub.
