A host of council services across Ayrshire will be suspended on Monday for Her Majesty the Queen’s full state funeral.

To respect Queen Elizabeth II on Monday, September 19, some council services will be temporarily suspended while others will close altogether.

The announcement follows that of major supermarkets who will close entirely or operate on reduced hours across the region and the rest of the country on the day of the bank holiday.

A number of services and ceremonies have been taking place across the United Kingdom following the Queen's death at Balmoral, Aberdeenshire last Thursday.
