The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will take place on Monday 19 September, with a bank holiday being declared across the UK on the final day of national mourning following the monarch’s death
As a result of the bank holiday, many local services and businesses will be closed as a mark of respect in Co Tyrone and Co Fermanagh , as well as in the rest of Northern Ireland.
Here are the details of what we know will be closed or affected across the two counties.

Hospitals and GP Practices
Health trusts in the area will be offering ‘enhanced bank holiday services’ on Monday 19 September, but GP practices will be closed apart from out of hours service.
Elaborating on this, the Western Trust said: “This means they (hospitals) will endeavour to maintain as many scheduled inpatient, day case and diagnostics services as possible with priority given to those people with greatest clinical need. Chemotherapy sessions will also be maintained.
“Where your care will be affected by the Bank Holiday, the relevant Trust will be in contact with you.”
This will include the South West Acute Hospital, Omagh Hospital and Altnagelvin.
Schools
We know “all schools in Northern Ireland have been granted an Exceptional Closure Day on 19 September 2022”
A post on NI Direct says: “It is expected that schools should close for this Bank Holiday to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s state funeral. You should get information about individual schools directly from the school.”
A number of local schools have already confirmed that they will close on the day of the funeral, with the majority expected to follow in the coming days.
MOT Appointments
