The Queen's Sandringham garden house is now listed on Airbnb

The Queen 's head gardener's home on Sandringham Estate is now available to book on Airbnb.

The "charming hideaway is nestled within the heart" of the 8,000 hectare estate, which generally serves as the Queen's residence during the summer.

The listing houses up to eight guests, meaning its perfect for a whole court worth of blue-blooded fancy dress fans, and is furnished from the Royal Collection.

Amanda Cupples, general manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb, said: "We are delighted that the Garden House on Her Majesty The Queen's Sandringham Estate is now available to book on Airbnb. This picturesque cottage set in the grounds of one of the Queen's most beautiful estates is a perfect hideaway for guests looking for a truly unique stay, and hopefully they may even see a Corgi or two."

The home has been in the Royal Family since 1862, when it was bought by Queen Victoria so her son Prince Albert Edward could enjoy a health countryside life away from London.

In the same decade the home was destroyed and rebuilt under the designs of A.J Humpbert.

The main part of Sandringham House was completed in 1870, a ballroom was added by 1883 and new guest and staff accommodation added in the 1890s.

More than 100 rooms were demolished to remove dry rot, save on heating costs and move the kitchens closer to the dining room in 1975 under the watch of Prince Philip.

The Queen opened the House itself to the public in her Silver Jubilee year, 1977.

Those who book into the cottage, which can be viewed here, are unlikely to bump into Her Majesty, who is currently staying at Balmoral.

Airbnb says demand for historical homes has increased by over 80 per cent in 2021 compared to 2019.

In July, to accommodate this growing demand, Airbnb launched a Historical Homes Category, making it easier for guests to discover almost 4,000 heritage homes in the UK.

Other properties on offer include a converted chapel in County Durham and a 12th-century castle in Fife.
