Heading just northwest of Glasgow towards the imposing mound known as Dumgoyne at the start of the West Highland Way, you'll find one of Scotland's most fascinating country pubs.
Lying just over half an hour from Glasgow near Killearn, The Beech Tree is not so much a pub as an attraction in its own right with a bar, shop, restaurant, kids' play area, wildlife garden and zoo all rolled into one.
When you pull up you'll find plenty of parking places and inside, you can enjoy a drink at the bar or delicious comfort food with dishes from around the world served in the snug and conservatory, or on warmer days, outside.
And best of all, nothing on their extensive menu costs more than a tenner, while all kids' meals are a fiver, meaning it's light on the pocket too.

Though the food and drink, and welcoming atmosphere, are big draws, it's the animals and child-friendly spaces that really appeal for families.
With a play park to keep the kids busy while the adults have a bite to eat and a drink, the whole family can then enjoy a wander in the Wildlife Garden, where you can spot wildlife like woodpeckers, herons, red squirrels and even an elusive pine marten, as well as learning plenty of facts about the garden's many residents.
But the real stars of the show, are the inhabitants of their mini-zoo, which include the likes of pygmy goats, mini Shetland ponies, quails, chinchillas and even a tortoise.
And if guests want to get up close with these enchanting inhabitants, they can pre-book a slot where they can enjoy an hour-long meet and greet (with prices starting at £30 for four people) where you can get up close and learn about how to care for each one.
While those kids who just love ponies can enjoy a pre-booked pampering session with these wonderful creatures (£30 for two) where the bar team say people can come to spend an hour with their mini Shetlands, including patting and grooming as well as plaiting manes and feeding them treats.
