The pub built into a castle with its own amazing waterside beer garden

The Anglesey Arms in Caernarfon is a double whammy of a pub location. Not only is the pub built into the seriously impressive Caernarfon Castle but it also has a wicked spot right on the front overlooking the Menai Strait and has cracking views of Anglesey.

Thirdly, it's of course a pub and it has a beer garden smack dab in front of it so you can take in this view with a pint, glass of wine, G&T, glass of pop or whatever tickles your fancy while exploring the port town it sits in.

A former custom house connected to the nearby docks, Anglesey Arms is appropriately decked out in a nautical theme inside with two bar areas. All wooden beams and wooden bars which are stocked with a good selection of beers and ales. But you don't want to sit indoors, especially in the summer.

Outdoors you'll have to be nimble to grab a seat at a classic picnic table in the waterside beer garden because it's an ideal spot to chill out watching the sunset on those fine summer evenings and drink in where you are as well as a refreshing ale.

With Anglesey in front of you and Snowdonia the other way, south, there's plenty to explore before and after a beer break at the Arms, and that's not ot mention what's right next to you. Caernarfon itself is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and the castle surrounding the pub is a 13th-century royal palace and military fortress, built by Edward I.

If you're keen on sticking around for the view a bit longer you can book into one of the B&B rooms above the pub, you can click here for more on that. Fear not, too, in the winter there'll be a roaring fire to welcome you indoors and if you're lucky enough to grab a seat by the window you can watch the winter sun go low. There's also quite often live music and they do a Sunday lunch, too.
