Beloved Irish golfer Rory McIlroy just made history by winning the 2025 Masters Championship and becoming the sixth ever golfer to win a Grand Slam. Although it is an illustrious achievement, Rory doesn’t just win glory and bragging rights — he’s taking home a hell of a prize for his win at Augusta National.
In case you missed it, Rory beat out Justin Rose in the first sudden-death round at the Masters since 2017, making him the sixth ever elite golfer to claim a Grand Slam.

What prizes does Rory McIlroy claim for winning the Masters?
One of the biggest traditions of the Masters Championship is the iconic green jacket. Every year, the winner of the Masters receives a spiffy three-button, single-breasted jacket in the shade Pantone 342 C, along with a hefty wad of prize money. This tradition started in 1949.
As golf is a fairly lucrative sport, the cash prize is pretty impressive. For the Masters Championship in 2025, Rory claimed a neat $4.2 million USD ($6,662,439 AUD) prize.
Not too shabby, hey?

The cashola and the jacket aren’t the only prizes Rory has nabbed, though.
Along with having his name engraved on the permanent Masters Trophy (the trophy looks like the clubhouse at Augusta), Rory will receive his very own replica of the trophy, made out of sterling silver.
He will also receive a 3.5-inch gold medallion, which has a picture of the clubhouse on it.

As the 2025 winner, Rory will be given the honour of hosting and choosing the menu at the 2026 Champions Dinner, which takes place two days before the big event tees off. The Champions Dinner is considered to be one of the most exclusive dinners in the sporting world, and now, Rory will always receive an invitation to the event.
This year, the Champions Dinner was hosted by the 2024 Masters winner Scottie Scheffler, who designed a menu featuring cheeseburger sliders “served Scottie-style”, firecracker prawns and “Papa Scheff’s” meatball ravioli bites. Yummo!
At the dinner, the winner is bestowed a gold locket. You can check it out below.
As the 2025 winner of the Masters, Rory will also become a lifelong honorary member at Augusta, meaning he can rock up to the club whenever and even bring guests!
There, he will always have a coveted locker in the Champions Locker Room at the clubhouse and have access to the Champions Only driving range at the course during Masters week.

After winning the Masters, Rory will now receive an invitation to play the event every year, even after he’s retired from the sport. Plus, he will automatically qualify for every major PGA golf event for the next five years.
In another little treat, Rory will be granted the opportunity to tee off at Augusta the Sunday before the Masters takes place. This year, previous winner Scottie rocked up to play a cheeky round with his mum. Isn’t that cute?
A lot of traditions in this sport, aren’t there?
Personally, I’m most excited to see what food Rory McIlroy will be serving at the Championship Dinner next year. Will there be Guinness on tap? A tray of potato gems? A side of agadashi tofu?
Who knows? Until then, happy golfing, everyone!
