The Predators went down 5-0 in the first period of Game 1 and it looked so much worse than it sounds

It’s safe to say the Nashville Predators would like a do-over in Game 1.

During Tuesday’s first game of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Predators and the Colorado Avalanche, things weren’t going so well for Nashville early. The Avalanche scored two goals in the first three minutes of the game, eventually amassing a 5-0 lead by the end of the first period.

Yes, the Avalanche scored five goals on the Predators in the opening 20 minutes. Nashville goaltender David Rittich was chased 15 minutes into the game after allowing all five goals in one of the most disastrous starts to a NHL playoff game… ever.

The first period was so bad for the Predators, even the team’s Twitter account wasn’t feeling it.

Yeah, that’s rough buddy. Not only was the scoreboard lopsided, the shot count was too, as the Avalanche led the Predators in shots 17-6 by the end of the first period.

Talk about a demoralizing first period for the Predators. Here’s how the NHL world reacted after a miserable showing from Nashville.
