Shane MacGowan has shared a health update with fans after he was hospitalised last month.
The 65-year-old, best known for fronting The Pogues, was admitted to hospital with an infection. He was suffering from both shingles and encephalitis.
But now, as he wished his followers well for new year, the singer songwriter issued a further health update on Twitter. In the clip, he appeared wearing dark sunglasses as he said he was "still suffering".

He said: "Hi friends, I'm sitting here suffering from encephalitis. The light is killing me but I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year and Happy Christmas."
He added: "And many more, and all the luck in the world and all the love. Happy Christmas and Happy New Year, love Shane."
The post was captioned: "Happy New Year. Have as much fun as you can when you can!!! Thank you".
The NHS describes encephalitis as a "serious condition in which the brain becomes inflamed". It adds that the illness can be life threatening and "requires urgent treatment". Symptoms include confusion, seizures, difficulty speaking and loss of movement.
