The players Tottenham could swap Tanguy Ndombele for amid transfer links with PSG

Tottenham are reportedly in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential swap deal involving wantaway midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

The Frenchman signed for Spurs for a club record £53.8million in the summer of 2019, but has failed to establish himself under former boss Jose Mourinho and his successor Antonio Conte.

The 25-year-old has endured a frustrating spell in north London and his time at Spurs seemingly came to an end after he was booed off after a poor performance against Morecambe in the FA Cup earlier this month.

Ndombele hasn’t been in any of Spurs’ last three matchday squads, and a departure from the club in January seems to be inevitable.

But which one of PSG’s stars should the Lilywhites be targeting in a swap deal?

Football.London take a look...

Thilo Kehrer

The German international’s main position is centre-back, an area that Spurs need to strengthen as the club failed to adequately replace Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

However, Kehrer can also play at right-back and defensive midfield, offering cover in a number of positions which could well appeal to Conte.

The 25-year-old makes up for his lack of pace with great positioning and awareness, not to mention an aggressive playing style.

Kehrer has been an important member of PSG’s squad this season, making 21 appearances for the Ligue 1 leaders and also has 16 caps for Germany.

He would be a great signing for Spurs and would almost certainly go straight into their starting XI.

Julian Draxler

Spurs are crying out for some pace and invention in midfield and Draxler has been on the fringes of PSG’s first team for a number of seasons.

The German is predominantly a left winger but wouldn’t dislodge Son Heung-min from but the starting line-up. However, he can also operate as an attacking midfielder.

Draxler is just entering his prime at 28, and possesses the skill, vision and goal scoring ability from midfield that Spurs have lacked since Christian Eriksen's departure.

He would be a fine addition to Conte's side and could give Spurs that added bit of quality in the final third that they’ve often lacked this season.

Georginio Wijnaldum

The former Liverpool midfielder has often found himself on the fringes of PSG's star studded midfield, and reportedly wants to leave the French giants just six months after joining them on a free transfer.

Wijnaldum already possesses a wealth of Premier League experience from his time with Jurgen Klopp's side, and was often deployed in a holding midfield role.

The Dutch international proved to be adept at protecting the back four and acting as the link between defence and attack.

Spurs lack a midfield general and whilst Oliver Skipp is a fantastic prospect and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been a solid signing, neither player possesses the experience and quality of Wijnaldum.

A definite starter for Spurs if they were to bring him in.

Mauro Icardi

A perennial issue for Spurs has been the lack of alternatives to Harry Kane if their talisman is unavailable.

Icardi has often been the odd man out of PSG’s world class attack, but boasts a decent goal-scoring record for Les Parisiens of 38 goals in 85 appearances.

Whilst the 28-year-old would undoubtedly be Kane’s understudy for the rest of the season, he could prove to be his replacement if the England captain leaves in the summer.

Spurs could solve two long-standing issues regarding Kane if they can get a deal for the Argentina striker over the line.
