Former England striker Darren Bent believes Newcastle United should look to sign Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha in the summer. Zaha has been one of the major reasons behind Palace’s nine-year stay in the Premier League – with his contributions having often almost single-handedly kept them divisions in recent seasons.
The 29-year-old, though, has been frequently linked with a move away from Selhurst Park during his time at the club, with him also often making it clear it was his desire to move on. Zaha failed to make an impact during his big money move to Manchester United much earlier in his career but has wanted to test himself at a bigger club again.
The likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been the clubs most strongly linked with signing him, but Palace’s high valuation has meant a move has never materialised. But Zaha has put all that speculation behind him this season with his best goalscoring season to date under Patrick Vieira, as he has netted 12 goals.

Speaking on talkSPORT, though, Bent believes that Newcastle would be the perfect place for him to further himself at this stage of his career, claiming it could be his last chance to earn a big move.
He said: “What is he, 30? I think Newcastle might be maybe the place for him. If I’m Newcastle, I’m trying to get him because he’s a top player. But if he doesn’t leave this summer, then I think that’s him at Crystal Palace. Unless he moves this summer, I can see him staying at Palace for the rest of his career.”
