The Perfection on Netflix ending explained
What did Charlotte do to Lizzie?

Striking up a friendship with Lizzie, Charlotte and her "replacement" grow closer and go out drinking before sleeping together.
The next day, Lizzie feels so hungover but is committed to going on a trip with Charlotte, knocking back lots of Ibuprofen to cope with her sickness, but only grows more and more unwell.
Lizzie begins to grow nauseous and vomits and has severe diarrhoea, and sees worms in her vomit and under her skin.

However, it soon becomes clear that Charlotte poisoned Lizzie with the medication that had been used on her terminally ill mother and produced side effects that created the symptoms Lizzie was experiencing - including hallucinations.
Charlotte manages to convince Lizzie to cut her own right hand off.
Later in the film, we learn there was a twisted compassionate reason as to why Charlotte did this nightmare to Lizzie.
What happened to Charlotte at the school?

We discover that while at the boarding school Charlotte attended as a teenage girl, she was ceremonially raped and abused by headmaster Anton (Steven Weber) and other teachers at the school.
The sexual abuse was used as a deterrent if she failed to complete her performances without any mistakes, for to succeed as such would be to achieve "The Perfection".
We discover that Charlotte was just one of many girls abused in such a manner, and Lizzie was next in line after Charlotte left the school when her mother grew sick.
Does Lizzie take revenge on Charlotte?

We discover that Charlotte explained her reasons to Lizzie after the latter cut her hand off: to free the new star of the academy from the tight hold that Anton had over her - without her talent, he would have no interest in her.
Lizzie found Charlotte to be correct when after she returned to the academy after losing her hand, Anton and his submissive wife Paloma (Alaina Huffman) reject her desire to teach at the school and kick her out of her lodgings there.
Lizzie tracked down Charlotte at her home and beat her until breaking down when she realises that Charlotte was right about the school and their abuse of them both.
Charlotte is then taken bound and gagged back to the school in Lizzie's car boot, which she presents to Anton.
What happens when Charlotte plays?

Charlotte is awakened in a glamorous dress and chained to the stage in the basement where her abuse took place. She is then forced to play the cello in front of her former teachers, Lizzie, and a new prodigy named Zhang Li.
Anton reveals that if Charlotte does not achieve "The Perfection" then Zhang Li will suffer the consequences. Charlotte begs to be the one to suffer instead, but Anton insists.
Charlotte plays beautifully but makes a mistake. Paloma eventually takes Zhang Li away, however, with the threats against her being revealed as a cruel game.
Anton does say that he will torture Charlotte, however, and leaves his fellow male teachers to sexually assault Charlotte but plans to do so himself after.
Lizzie asks to punish Charlotte, however, after fixing drinks for the two men.
The two men fall down dead, however, as Lizzie poisoned their drinks.
It is then revealed that the two women are in league with one another and share a kiss.
Revenge

Anton returns to exact his abuse on Charlotte but is approached by Paloma who is staggering and urinating on the floor before falling down dead - having been stabbed in the back by Charlotte and Lizzie.
Charlotte and Lizzie reveal their duplicity to Anton and plan to kill him with a meat cleaver and a knife, but the encounter sees Anton fight back and manage to severely mutilate Charlotte's left arm.
Lizzie manages to win the day, however, by severely injuring Anton.
How does the film end?
The final scene finds Anton sat in the basement, with his arms and legs cut off and his eyes mutilated.
He is sat propped up to listen as Charlotte and Lizzie play the same cello together, with Charlotte using her right arm and Lizzie her left.
They play "The Perfection" in perfect unison together as Anton is forced to listen in pain.
The credits roll.
Yep, it's a majorly disturbing but satisfying conclusion.
The Perfection is available on Netflix now.
