If you’re a relatively online person, you would’ve come across Pepe the King Prawn — a little guy who has inspired a new format of trauma dumping on TikTok. If you haven’t, this is going to be a wild ride. Welcome.
If you haven’t seen his goofy little face, Pepe the King Prawn is part of the Muppet universe. According to the Muppet Wiki, his full name is Pepino Rodrigo Serrano Gonzales. However, considering his likeness is being used by the masses to share their deepest, darkest, most embarrassing stories, it’s only natural that we’re all on a nickname basis.
Essentially people are uploading this one pic of Pepe looking especially perturbed multiple times in a carousel. On each pic of Pepe, there is text telling a story about one of the worst and/or most embarrassing moments of people’s lives to the soundtrack of Madonna‘s “Like A Prayer”.
When you put it in writing, it sounds really fkn silly so allow me to show you a bunch of my favourites that I’ve come across over the last three days.

An olive oil hair mask and a whole lot of drama
Let’s start off with the story that saw this meme truly explode. It’s a horrific little tale by a TikToker named Megan Chacalos in which she found herself covered in oil, confused and with a really pissed-off father.
At the time of writing, Megan’s wild yarn has 39.4 million views.

Next up is a horrific story from TikToker Tessy Hill about the horrors of the New York City subway system, literal human shit and Lululemon.

Just like me, TikToker @rhaellatravels is not a fan of the communal kitchen at work. Unlike me, she has a very good reason for never eating in the work kitchen again.
A Robert Pattinson stan who kind of committed fraud (but in a lighthearted fun way)
Just like many of us here today, TikToker Kathleen was a big ol’ fan of the Twilight saga when she was younger. However, not all of us staged a competition to win a signed Robert Pattinson picture and completely faked the whole thing.
Kathy, that’s fraud. Admittedly, extremely funny.
A nurse who is haunted by this story
Ellie is a nurse who would do anything for her patients. However, she admits she will forever be haunted by memories of this story, where she innocently suggested the absolute worst show possible to a patient.
To be fair though, she is right. Breaking Bad is a great show.
Wasn’t that fun? Currently, my FYP is absolutely full of trauma dumping Pepe but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
