The Pantone Color Institute Officially Names Mocha Mousse Next Year's Color of the Year

It's time to pour one out for Peach Fuzz. Its reign as an It color is coming to an end. The Pantone Color Institute just revealed that Peach Fuzz's successor is Mocha Mousse and it's just as delectable and even complements this year's must-have hue.

Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse stays true to its name. It's a warming, brown hue bringing to mind both milk chocolate and the popular coffee drink. Some may think this shade is a little boring, maybe even drab. But au contraire. The hue is a great neutral that can get along with an array of other colors, from current obsession burgundy to Barbie pink.

"Underpinned by our desire for every day pleasures, Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence," points out Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute Leatrice Eiseman. "Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe."

You don't have to wait until January 1st to embrace the hue, however. Several brands are getting a jump on the sure-to-be trending color. Motorola, Joybird, IPSY, Oyuna and many more already have collaborations set. Head on over to Pantone's website to see the many sides of Mocha Mousse.
