Wales is home to some amazing restaurants - from the two Michelin star Ynshir in north Wales to Home by James Sommerin in Penarth. However, only one Welsh restaurant has made the Open Table UK top 100 list - and it's chain restaurant The Ivy, in Cardiff.
The list is based on more than 1.4 million reviews from verified OpenTable diners, meaning only those who book via OpenTable and dine can leave reviews. More than 60% of the restaurants on the list are in London and the restaurants are ranked in no particular order. Other restaurants on the list include 21 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Andrew Edmunds in London and Bucks Bar in Glasgow.
Wales' sole entry, The Ivy, is known for being a luxurious restaurant and won praise from critics and diners for its sophisticated all-day dining. Items on the menu include cure smoked salmon starter for £12.95, lobster linguine for mains at £33.95, goose and turkey shepherds pie for £18.95 and chocolate bombe for dessert for £9.75.

More expensive than other restaurants The Ivy is seen by many as a place to go for a treat or a special celebration. There are other Ivy restaurants in locations including London, Bath and Bristol. Elsewhere, Wales's impressive foodie scene earned it a spot on the luxury travel magazine Conde Nast's top places to visit in the UK for 2023. Saying there had been a "Welsh foodie renaissance" the travel magazine recommended Wales's great restaurants such as Paternoster Farm set in a former Pembroke cowshed as a reason to visit Wales.
