Individually, it’s hard to find things to criticize LeBron James for this season.
He had a remarkable campaign, one of the most remarkable he has had in his remarkable career.
James averaged 30.3 points per game, narrowing losing his bid for a second scoring title, on 52.4% field goal shooting, while also putting up 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game.
He did all that in his age-37 season, which is truly incredible, especially considering how much mileage he has accumulated from 10 trips to the NBA Finals.
His free-throw shooting, which had long been mediocre, improved, going from 69.8% in 2021 to 75.6% in 2022.
However, James admitted he is not very happy with one aspect of his performance in that department.
“I want to get to the free-throw line,” James said when asked what he wanted to improve on. “So I want to figure out how to trick the refs. I want to figure it out. I need to figure it out. … I’m in the top of the leaderboard in field goals in the restricted area and things of that nature, and I’m in like the bottom tier of free throws per game. I got to figure it out.
“Listen man, I’m going to figure it out. I used to be up there, man. I used to be up there, pre-Miami. Pre-Miami I was in the leaderboard in free-throw attempts.”
