The One Show viewers torn over David Walliams' appearance with his dog

David Walliams' appearance on The One Show with his dog, Ernie, has caused some controversy. The Britain's Got Talent judge and author was promoting his newest children's book The World's Worst Pets.

While some viewers found David's appearance with his dog adorable, others were less impressed with how he handled his dog. Some believed he was getting a bit too close to his dog, as BirminghamLive reports.

David held his dog to his chest and rubbed his tummy and some One Show viewers took to Twitter to air their "disgust". One said: "#TheOneShow really I’m having my tea, don’t wanna see @davidwalliams stroking a mutts genitalia. Disgusting."

Another said: "Why is David Walliams doing that to his dog on #TheOneShow?" and: "What is David Walliams doing to that dog? #TheOneShow."

However, others enjoyed seeing Ernie on the show and believed he stole the limelight. One fan said: "David Walliams' Dog is the real star of The One Show tonight. #theOneShow." and another said: "I'm just here for that dog #TheOneShow."

A third said: "@davidwalliams dog is absolutely adorable. So relaxed and well-behaved #dogs #dogsoftwitter #TheOneShow."

And: "The way David is holding his dog is adorable #TheOneShow." @xCountMeInx added: "OK it's official @davidwalliams has THE cutest dog!!! #TheOneShow."

While on the show David explained that his dogs were "too well behaved" to appear in his new book, he told Ronan Keating: "I've got two border terriers - Bert and Ernie - and they're really well behaved. He couldn't really be in it because he's so good."

Currently, David is a judge on Britain's Got Talent and during the new series he and his fellow judges were left open-mouthed by a Welsh act and i mpressed by a dance group aiming to 'break down barriers'.
