The One Show's Alex Jones warns co-host Roman Kemp as pair interview his dad

It was a rather unique situation for the hosts of Thursday night's The One Show, which aired on November 10, as Roman Kemp sat down next to Alex Jones on the famous green sofa to interview a guest he had a close, personal relationship with, his dad.

Martin Kemp, who found fame as part of the internationally successful 80s pop group, Spandau Ballet, was on the show to promote his upcoming book Ticket to the World: My 80s Story. The book is a music memoir that is his "love letter to the 80s" and regales stories of his time in the band. A synopsis reads: "Ticket to the World is a joyous, nostalgic celebration of 80s culture from one man at the centre of it all."

But before the pair started their interview, Alex Jones, who is a mother-of-three herself, said: "Time to meet our first guest," turning to her 29-year-old co-host, she added: "You know him as dad, the rest of us know him as Martin. Martin, welcome!"

She proceeded to say in jest: "Well, this is lovely, isn't it", before she nodded to Roman, warning him: "[Be on your] best behaviour!"

To which Roman laughed: "No, it's nice!"

Later on in the interview, Martin was asked by Alex to tell viewers about his involvement in the hit True, and his response showed the jovial and cheeky relationship he has with his son.

"There wasn't much," he laughed, adding while pointing at Roman: "He's asked you to ask this, hasn't he?"

Roman was seen sniggering in the background and clapping as Martin added: "It was the biggest regret of my life because it was my idea not to be the bass guitar on it." Revealing it was because he had wanted to go and enjoy his Bahamian working holiday sooner, he added that he instead took inspiration from 80s band Imagination and used a bass synthesizer. Roman then, playfully, murmured loudly: "When you say you got into 'Imagination', another band, it was more partying, wasn't it?"

Roman's return to the show this week comes soon after Alex Jones was left to present The One Show solo on Tuesday, November 8, as one of her other co-hosts, Jermaine Jenas, was busy helping the programme's Children In Need fundraising effort, The Surprise Squad. Read more on that here.
