The one 'advantage' Arsenal have over Real Madrid and Chelsea in Gabriel Jesus transfer battle

Arsenal may have an advantage over the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Tottenham in the race to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

The Gunners are in need of at least one striker this summer after allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona back in January whilst Alexandre Lacazette is set to leave the Emirates Stadium at the end of the month. City frontman Jesus is one name on the club's shortlist and football.london understands that technical director Edu has held talks with the player's representatives in recent months.

Still, Jesus has also been linked with Spanish champions Real, as well as London rivals Chelsea and Spurs, but transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Brazilian's relationship with the aforementioned Edu may be key in the north Londoners getting their man. Speaking about the situation on the Chris Cowlin YouTube show, Romano said: “At the moment there is no bid but there is contracts between Gabriel Jesus and Tottenham.

"Let me say that Arsenal are leading the race for him for a long time because of the Brazilian connection and Edu Gaspar, who is working since a long time, so Arsenal are really interested in Gabriel. For Tottenham, they are discussing with his agent.

"They’ve had conversations with his agent, so for the moment, it’s a possibility. But he wants to play, he wants to be a key player. This is why at the moment it’s important for Gabriel to understand ‘what is the plan?’.”

The 25-year-old is into the final 13 months of his contract at City, who have already signed fellow striker Erling Haaland ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
