What was the OG drama between Sophia La Corte and Halley Kate?
Let’s rewind a bit. The drama between Sophia La Corte and Halley Kate kicked off in December 2023 when rumours surfaced that Sophia was dating Halley’s ex-boyfriend, Reed Williams, shortly after Halley and Reed broke up.
Halley accused Sophia of “homie hopping”, claiming that Sophia, whom she considered a friend, had slid into Reed’s DMs after their split.
Sophia has fired on her podcast, Out of Touch, asserting that she was “never friends” with Halley. She also released a three part series on her TikTok to tell her side of the story, titled “how I got cancelled by a girl I met maybe three times”.
Despite the drama, Halley and Reed eventually got back together in March 2024, but the tension between the two women has lingered.
Brianna ChickenFry is vocal about being Team Halley
Fast forward to August 2024 and influencer Brianna ChickenFry, who is known for her podcast with Barstool Sports, Plan Bri Uncut and BFFs, has made her stance clear: she’s firmly Team Halley.
In a series of TikTok videos and podcast episodes, Brianna has called Sophia “diabolical”, “delusional”, and “the weirdest person”. Safe to say she has not held back.
Sophia La Corte claps back at Brianna
On Wednesday, Sophia responded to Brianna’s insults, pointing out how Brianna had discussed her in multiple TikTok videos and on two different podcasts.
“So, Brianna ChickenFry had a lot to say about me,” she remarked, before reciting Brianna’s insults to the camera.
“Brianna, you have, like, ten times the amount of followers as me and you’re dating Luke Bryan. Like, shouldn’t you be at a concert or something?” she quipped. (Editor’s note: Brianna is dating country music star Zach Bryan, not country music star Luke Bryan, so it looks like Sophia made an error here. TBH, a very easy one to do.)
Sophia then defended the way she reacted to the drama with Halley saying, “I’m sorry, I didn’t realise I was running for Congress.”
She went into her side of the story once again for her followers, stating, “For the record, someone’s ex took me on a date and then she got mad, so she brought it online, weaponised her millions of followers, lied about us being friends so everyone would hate me, and then she got back with him.”
Sophia made it clear that if defending herself made her the villain, she was ready to embrace that role. “If defending myself after getting publicly shamed makes me the villain, then I’ll be the best villain the world’s ever seen,” she concluded. I fear that is simply iconic and I’m obsessed with her leaning in.
Brianna’s unbothered-ish come back
In a classic influencer move, Brianna decided to respond with a TikTok video set to Luke Bryan’s song, “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day.” During the lyric “fishin’,” she pointed directly at the camera, a not-so-subtle dig at Sophia for allegedly “fishing” for attention.
“Go stream my boyfrennn,” Brianna captioned the video, clearly throwing shade at Sophia’s mix-up about her boyfriend. The situation reached peak drama when Luke Bryan himself commented on Brianna’s post, saying, “Tis the season,” which sent her followers into a frenzy.
