Northern Ireland is rapidly becoming the go-to location for film and TV, putting our country on the map as a hub of expertise and talent.
One of the biggest and most anticipated films to have been shot in NI, The Northman, is set to hit cinemas on April 15.
Filmed in Belfast Harbour Studios and on location in 2020, The Northman was the first major project to shoot during the pandemic.

Directed by Robert Eggers, the epic film is a tale of vengeance set at the turn of the 10th century and follows Prince Amleth and how far he will go to seek justice for his murdered father.
Produced by local man Mark Huffam and employing approximately 439 NI-resident crew, the film is estimated to have returned £33.5m to the NI economy and received £1.9m funding from Northern Ireland Screen.
Proving to be the perfect location to transport us back to the time of Vikings, here are the locations where The Northman was shot in Northern Ireland:
Clandeboyle Estate
More commonly used for hosting lavish weddings than Nordic takeovers, Clandeboye Estate is one of the few great, private estates of Northern Ireland that still remain in the ownership of the original family.
Wooden and straw huts used in filming external scenes in The Northman were spotted in the Co Down gardens in August 2020.
Torr Head
Remote Torr head on the beautiful Antrim coastline near Ballycastle made a fine double for the Icelandic fjords.
In 2020, the crew were spotted filming scenes in what looked to be a Viking village.
Ariel shots of Torr Head were also used in filming Game of Thrones.
Knock Dhu
Located outside Ballygally in Co Antrim, Knock Dhu is a Bronze Age promontory fort and settlement situated approximately one mile to the west of Cairncastle.
The site consists of a set of three banks and ditches, Bronze Age roundhouses, and a probable gatehouse.
River Bann and River Maine
River Bann is the largest in NI and was most likely used for shots featuring any Viking longships.
The upper Bann rises in the Mourne Mountains and flows northwest and the lower Bann flows northward and carries the waters of Lough Neagh to the sea below Coleraine.
The River Maine rises in the Glens of Antrim, flowing through Ballymena and Randalstown before entering Lough Neagh.
Hightown Quarry
Hightown Quarry outside of Mallusk in Newtownabbey was also used when filming The Northman.
Depsite the location site being perfect for transporting the audience back to the 10th century, the quarry has been subject to dispute due to proposals for a £240m energy from waste plant for almost 20 years.
Tyrella Beach
Located in Downpatrick, Tyrella Beach and conservation area is a small enclosed dune complex within Dundrum Bay.
It is a flat beach that is backed by 25 hectares of mature dunes.
Sandy Brae
The rural greenery of Sandy Brae in Kilkeel Co Down lends itself to the extensive exterior filming that was used in The Northman.
Belfast Harbour Studios
An 8 acre site located within the 340 acre Giants Park, are the newest purpose built studios in Belfast.
The studios incorporate high performance acoustic fabric, high-level walkways and rigging gantries with power, lighting and internal environment options to suit the full spectrum of film production uses.
