The nine best moments from the Queen's Jubilee weekend: Prince George and Wills singing Sweet Caroline, 'National Treasures' on the icon buses and Paddington with the Queen

The nation has been united in celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee over four fun-filled days of street parties, concerts and parades. Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II was joined by the Royal Family for a host of huge events to mark her 70 year reign.

The Queen, 96, delivered her own verdict at the end of her Platinum Jubilee commemorations, saying she was "deeply touched" by what she had seen over the past four days. She said: "When it comes to how to mark 70 years as your Queen, there is no guidebook to follow. It really is a first.

"But I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee. While I may not have attended every event in person, my heart has been with you all; and I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability, supported by my family."

She added: "I have been inspired by the kindness, joy and kinship that has been so evident in recent days, and I hope this renewed sense of togetherness will be felt for many years to come. I thank you most sincerely for your good wishes and for the part you have all played in these happy celebrations."

The Platinum Jubilee celebrations brought plenty of magic moments, and here we take a look at some of the highlights of the four days of events.

The Queen and Paddington Bear

Perhaps for many the most magical moment of the weekend came from the most unlikely of tributes - when the cuddly children's book character Paddington Bear met Her Majesty. It came in a brilliant scene showed at the Platinum Jubilee Party at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen and Paddington made the most adorable couple as they sat together to enjoy tea inside the palace. And they both confessed to a mutual love of marmalade sandwiches.

It left TV viewers in tears. And calls for the Queen to team up with the bear for a Paddington 3 movie.

Prince Louis' hilarious faces

The young Prince Louis revealed himself to have a comedic side not often seen among members of the royal family. During the Trooping the Colour parade, Louis could be spotted pulling a flurry of hilarious faces.

It was a rare glimpse into the young Prince's personality as his private life is generally kept under wraps. But the four-year-old was stealing the show again on the fourth day at the Jubilee pageant - yet again pulling some brilliant funny faces and even doing an energetic dance as the colourful parade got underway.

Viewers also cooed as they saw little Louis waving frantically to the crowds, and munching on a chocolate biscuit.

Prince George sings Sweet Caroline with his dad

When Rod Stewart suddenly started singing the Neil Diamond classic Sweet Caroline at the Buckingham Palace concert, it got a few in the audience a tad confused. But viewers were soon delighted when they saw who was joining in with the singalong.

The 1960s classic has become a modern-day patriotic anthem and the crowds were loving it. So how adorable was it when the TV cameras panned to the Royal Box and there was little Prince George singing along to every word - and the "duh duh duhs" of Sweet Caroline's famous chorus - along with his dad.

There was also some impressive flag-swinging in time to the beat as well. TV viewers took to Twitter to hail the moment "the cutest thing" and "best thing you'll see today".

Diversity making us all proud

While there were all sorts of magical moments at the Buckingham Palace concert, none were quite as spine-tingling as the moment Britain's Got Talent victors, dance troupe Diversity, took to the stage. The extraordinary dance was led by Ashley Banjo who performed a stunning rap poem exploring the history of music in the UK, taking it through to modern day life and making us all feel very proud to be British.

'National Treasures' on the icon buses

As part of the spectacular Jubilee parade, there were a succession of double decker buses packed with "icons" of every decade. And what fun it was to try and spot who was on board them all.

A total of 150 celebrities took part in the pageant in the "Time of our Lives" section celebrating culture over the past 70 years of the Queen's reign. Each bus was adorned with iconic imagery from each era, with the superstars peeping out on top.

We had the likes of Sir Cliff Richard on the 1950s bus, Timmy Mallett and Pete Waterman representing the 1980s, celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal and Olympian Mo Farah on the 2000s bus, and Holly Willoughby on the 2010s bus.

Supermodels rather stole the show on the 1990s bus, including Kate Moss in a Union Jack blazer and Naomi Campbell in stunning form, joined by film star Patsy Kensit.

Brian May does it again

Rock icons Queen famously performed at the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002 when Brian May wielded his guitar on the top of Buckingham Palace. And they returned to blast open the show in 2022 in quite spectacular fashion again.

While Adam Lambert belted out We Will Rock You flanked by the entire Royal Marine Corps on drums, we were all left looking to see where guitar legend May would pop up.

And pop up he did - atop the stage with the huge Queen Victoria monument as his backdrop to thrash out the big guitar solo for the opening anthem. What a moment. What an icon.

The grand finale

The Queen rounded off her Platinum Jubilee celebrations with an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony with her heirs, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George. They were joined by Camilla, the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to wave to tens of thousands of well-wishers who had gathered on The Mall to watch the historical event on Sunday.

There were huge cheers as The Firm stepped out onto the balcony for their short and sweet visit. It may have only lasted a few minutes, but the crowds made the most of it with thousands of Union flags waving in London.

Dressed in a bright green coat with a matching hat and using her walking stick, the Queen watched on as the crowds sang the National Anthem. She smiled and waved as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren also waved down to the masses.

It was the Monarch's third balcony appearance of the four-day weekend and came after she was forced to pull out of Friday's Service of Thanksgiving and the Epsom Derby on Friday due to mobility issues.

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived to St Paul's Cathedral for the thanksgiving service, all those in attendance outside cheered them on. The couple spent a few minutes talking to the senior clerics before entering the cathedral and greeting the long line of clergy who were taking part in the service.

Harry was spotted spending a few moments chatting with the Archbishop of York before he and Meghan took their seats in the second row from the front. This was the most publicly seen moment for the royal couple.

On the next day, they stayed away from the limelight to watch the Trooping the Colour ceremony from a window as they were not invited to stand on the balcony with some other members of the royal family.

The Queen's Jubilee wasn't the only royal event that Harry and Meghan were celebrating this week. June 4 marks the birthday of their youngest daughter Lilibet.

While personal celebrations were unsurprisingly kept quiet, the royal family sent out a birthday message to Lilibet on Saturday morning, posting on Twitter: "Wishing Lilibet a very Happy 1st Birthday!" The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall also posted their own well-wishes for Lilibet's birthday on Twitter.

Watching millions unite to celebrate

(PA)

The Jubilee event brought millions of people together to celebrate from all across the United Kingdom - indeed from across the world. Whether it was the hundreds of thousands who lined the Mall and circled around the palace, or the communities who celebrated with street parties and local events, the event marked a special moment for so many people.
