The Night Agent season 2 has officially wrapped production, which means we should have long to wait for a fresh adventure of the Netflix sensation!

The Night Agent was arguably the biggest hit of 2023. Around the globe, the first series clocked up over 800 million hours of viewing time. By the way if you've not seen the first season, where have you been? And get watching now it's great!

The thrilling conclusion saw Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) boarding a plane, ready to take on a new mission and now we're getting nearer to seeing what comes next for our hero.

Jinny Howe, Vice President of Drama Series at Netflix spoke about the renewal, saying: “We're proud to see The Night Agent deliver a breakout performance and become instantly embraced around the world.

"Shawn Ryan has created a spy thriller sensation that viewers cannot get enough of, with a stellar cast featuring Gabriel Basso, Luciane Buchanan, and Hong Chau, and we’re here to bring them more of the action and suspense they love."

Here's everything we know about The Night Agent season 2 so far.

The Night Agent season 2 release date

With production now over, a winter 2024 release date for The Night Agent season 2 looks likely. However, Netflix is still to confirm a release date.

Considering season 1 of The Night Agent was based on a singular novel, right now we don't know what the new plot could consist of. But series creator Shawn Ryan is keen to give fans more.

The first season wrapped up the mystery in a very solid ending, which gives the creators and writers room to develop another story entirely.

In an interview with Collider, he said: "I always knew that I wanted each season to be a mostly standalone story. In this case, the center of gravity was Washington D.C and the White House, and it had this host of characters, but for the most part, we answered most questions and we’ve settled what happened in that. Hopefully, that’s a really satisfying journey for the audience."

We will have to wait patiently to find out more.

The Night Agent season 2 cast

Gabriel Basso is confirmed to be returning after a behind the scenes photo was shared of him on set.

According to Variety, we now know that Marwan Kenzari, Elise Kibler and Dikran Tulaine are also joining, with both season 1 leads Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan reprising their roles in the series.

Additional previously cast members include Amanda Warren, Arienne Mandi, Louis Herthum, Berto Colon, Brittany Snow, Teddy Sears, Michael Malarkey, Keon Alexander, Navid Negahban and Rob Heaps.

We also have some character descriptions for the newcomers. Marwan Kenzari plays Reza, "a decorated soldier, court marshalled for another man’s crime, Reza was given the opportunity to be a night agent. Fiercely intelligent, with a wry sense of humor and a trigger temper, he doesn’t hesitate to become violent or lethal when backed into a corner.”

Meanwhile, Elise Kibler is Sloane, "a glamorous British socialite, smart, savvy, glib; Sloane is the girlfriend of the wealthy Tomás Bala. Sloane knows how toxic Tomás’ family is and tries to convince him to break ties."

Finally, Dikran Tulaine plays Viktor, "a smart, dangerous and manipulative man, Viktor was once the leader of his country, but has since been convicted of war crimes."
