A legendary Edinburgh bar is set to open an 'exciting new chapter' in the coming weeks with the arrival of a brand new basement bar.
The much-loved Newsroom, which is based on Leith Street, opposite the St James Quarter, is well known for being a 'quirky and contemporary bar in the heart of Edinburgh'.
A regular stop off for a last pint before passengers get the last train from nearby Waverley, it's also known for its boozy brunches, pub quizzes and gastro food.

In recent days, a post shared on social media by one of The Newsroom team said: "Afternoon folks, we are starting on an exciting new chapter for downstairs at Newsroom next week and will be opening a shiny and new basement bar in mid June."
Commenting on Friday, they said they were looking to offload some things in the basement before works commence.
The comment read: "We have a load of bits and bobs that we have no more use for but would be a shame for it to go to landfill! Hoping some of this kit might have a second life somewhere.
"Everything must be gone by Sunday night as the skips arrive Monday morning. First come first served! Come along and take it away!
"Just ask at the bar upstairs and someone will direct you to the goodies!"
We'll be keeping an eye on progress of the renovation in the coming weeks to see what we can expect from The Newsroom's exciting new basement bar!
