Talk about ending the year on a high.
Lady Gaga has given Newcastle DJ and producer Dan Heale the ultimate seal of approval by dancing to his remix of her track Bloody Mary on TikTok. The dance tune has also become a viral sensation that's racked up more than 14 million views on YouTube in just two weeks and currently sits at number 21 on the UK site's music trending chart.
And the 28-year-old's success doesn't stop there, as the remix has blown up on TikTok thanks to the helping hand of Wednesday Adams. It might seem like an unusual pairing, but fans of the hit Netflix series have shared a video of star Jenna Ortega's dance routine from the show with Dan's track playing over the top.
The idea has taken off on the platform, with Lady Gaga herself even performing the "Wednesday Addams dance" to Dan's remix on TikTok, which has gathered 2.3m likes on the platform.
It's the stuff of dreams for Dan who has spent years working on his music alongside his full-time job in marketing. After being made redundant during the pandemic the producer is now pursuing his passion full-time and has launched his own music label called Aero.
Dan, who has been the resident DJ at Bijoux and now performs at venues across the North East, said: "I do a lot of remixes and normally upload videos on TikTok showing an insight into how I made it. I have spent this entire year doing as many remixes as I can.
"I did a Meghan Trainor remix of 'Made You Look' that went semi-viral on TikTok and then I started getting loads of people saying I should do a Lady Gaga remix. I had that many comments I thought, 'I am going to do it.'
"I made the 'Bloody Sunday' remix in a day and put it on YouTube and then the next day I had 100k views. I just thought, 'this is mad!'
"It just started going up and up and then I had one million views in five days and after a week it was at five million."
Dan said the remix is one of the quickest he has ever made - but it has proved to be his most successful track yet. Now he hopes that it will become the official Lady Gaga remix and would love to have clubs in the North East playing his track.
"It was a bit overwhelming when it started to get so much attention," he said.
"I have not had that many views on YouTube before and my subscribers have blown up. When I uploaded the video I had 1,000 subscribers and now I've got 30,000 in less than two weeks.
"When you are doing it for so long sometimes you don't see the results but it just shows that if you keep putting the work in it does pay off in the end."
