Pope Francis gives the New Orleans Saints an accidental blessing

It is Election Day in the United States. It is important to find some humor.  The New Orleans Saints seem the least likely place to find that humor. The team fired head coach Dennis Allen on Monday because of the disappointing 2-7 start.  It marks the second time Allen was fired with Derek Carr as his quarterback.  The other team was the Las Vegas Raiders.

On Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints continued dismantling the team and rebuilding for 2025 by trading cornerback Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders for a third-round draft pick besides other not yet disclosed picks.

Saints fans are upset about their team’s 2024 results and sad to see Latimore go.  Lattimore was the 11th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Saints.  In addition to being the 2017 Defensive Rookie of the Year, he was a four-time Pro Bowler and arguably one of the best cornerbacks in New Orleans Saints franchise history.

Sad New Orleans Saints Fans Get Papal Shout-Out

Amid the mayhem, Pope Francis sent out a morning tweet, as he is prone to do.  The topic of his tweet was the plight of the Christian Saints. However, Pope Francis used the hashtag in front of the Saints, and the Saints emblem is what appeared.

Saints Fans Need Divine Intervention

New Orleans Saints players and fans need all the help they can get these days.  An accidental shout-out from the Pope and any divine intervention he mistakenly sends their way are welcome distractions from a difficult season, week, and day.

The Saints are preparing for a Week 10 matchup against division rival, the 6-3 Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, November 10 at 1 PM EST at the Superdome.
