A new café has opened its doors in Sherwood and is already proving a popular breakfast spot. The Staar Cafe in Sherwood on 499 Mansfield Road has replaced a former barber shop.
With a simplistic interior inside, cafe owner, Ali Jolear who lives in Carlton has spoken out about how business has been since The Staar Cafe opened last month. With sweet treats, hot food, free wifi and a garden space, Mr Jolear said business had been good.
Ali said: “Things have been alright. We have a lot of people coming in for breakfasts and a lot of people coming in for a coffee and to use the free wifi.” This isn’t Ali’s only business.

Two weeks ago, on Nottingham Road, he opened a second business: Lavia Pizza on 363 Nottingham Road. Ali continued: “I first opened here and then Lavia Pizza. The customers, they’ve been great so far, everyone’s very friendly.”
At the cafe, you get coffees for £3.30, a large breakfast for £7.50 and jacket potatoes for £3.50. People in Sherwood welcomed the new addition to the high street.
Hayley Morgan, 32 lives in Sherwood. The nurse said: “I had seen that the Staar Café had opened on Facebook.
“It looks like a good spot, hopefully when people are coming in out of Sherwood on the buses and driving, they’ll notice it because it isn’t located right where all the main shops are but it looks great.”
Lisa Fox, 49 lives in Basford. The learning performance tutor said: “I come to Sherwood often and like to try new places when they open.
“I came in here last week and it was great, good service, nice food, I had a breakfast and a cup of tea which are served in lovely tea pots.”
