The Neath and Port Talbot streets where you're most likely to get a parking ticket

If you want to avoid a parking ticket in Neath Port Talbot county, clearly, you should be careful to abide by all the parking rules, but extra especially in Water Street in Neath.

That's because this particular street in Neath town centre, a stone's throw from popular park Victoria Gardens and various shops and businesses, is the street that saw the highest number of parking tickets issued last year in the whole of the county.

Traffic wardens working for Neath Port Talbot Council issued 703 parking tickets to vehicles parked in Water Street last year, a Freedom of Information Request by WalesOnline has revealed.

In Port Talbot, Station Road was the street where the highest number of tickets were issued, with 640 between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021

Neath Port Talbot Council has confirmed the streets where the most penalty charge notices were issued in 2021.

Many of these are located close to shops and businesses, so a high number of parking tickets would be expected there, the council has said.

Neath Port Talbot Council has also confirmed how many of the parking tickets issued in 2021 were contested and, of those, how many successfully.

Parking enforcement supervisor for Neath Port Talbot Council, Ian Rees, said: "There are no streets that we are especially concerned about. The list of the streets is as expected due to their location in relation to shops and amenities."

Of the penalty charge notices issued on the above streets in 2021, 1,541 were challenged, Mr Rees has confirmed.

Of those challenged, 755 were successful, he added.
