The most family-friendly places to eat in Easton and St George

Eating out with children can be one massive minefield.

Get it wrong and you could end up in meltdown central with screaming kids throwing their food across the restaurant and being left with no time to eat your meal.

But there are food havens spread across the city, where eating out with youngsters cam be enjoyable.

We're rounded up the best places for you if you are in the BS5 area, which includes Easton and St George.

The Greenbank, Easton

Pubs can be tricky to get right.

Some outright refuse to let in children, while at others you may feel the unwelcome stares from people trying to have a good time who do not want a child invading their relaxing space.

But as pubs go this one is a complete joy.

Boasting a huge big space where kids can run round in, this spot also has a toy box and a menu filled with delights for the youngsters.

The venue also has an extensive timetable of events for the younger generation including singalongs and interactive theatre play sessions.

The Orchard Coffee & Co, St George

This chic cafe offers a healthy menu for kids, an extremely tempting array of cakes for the adults and goes above and beyond to make sure the little touches are there for the youngsters

From the best babyccinos in the city, severed in old glass milk bottles with retro paper straws, to an entire corner kitted out with a toys.

There's also the option of free cordial and there's a colouring station tucked away near the back entrance.

The venue, which has hot meals and as well as sandwiches and salad options, also boasts couches and more formal setting options.

Staff are very friendly and welcoming.

The Thali, Easton

Packed with colour and exotic spices, this venue is perfect to take your little-ones.

The eatery serves-up the Tiny Thali which includes Paneer Dal or mildly spiced Dal.

It supplies colouring pens for kids, as well as books to keep them entertained while you eat.

The restaurant is set across a big room and has a mixture of couches or dining tables.

The Faraway Tree, St George

With a name that gives a nod to Edith Blyton's books, it must come as no surprise that this cafe is geared up for kids.

Bosses have gone to extremes to make sure the inside feels magical, with a ceiling designed as a hanging tree and lots of fairly lights.

Children can play with an array of toys including lots of fancy dress clothes.

There's an extensive children's menu which is served quickly.

Grounded, St George


While this is quite a small venue, it does have an outdoor courtyard which makes it an ideal spot on a sunny day.

The cafe offers a box of toys, a hugely diverse menu and one comfy couch (if you're luckily enough to grab it).

Easton Community centre

Within this hive of activity, a cafe is tucked away at the back of the building.

It offers children a large play space, complete with a kitchen and several large toy boxes.

There's lots on the menu for the younger generation from beans on toast to sandwhiches.

Groups for children are also hosted at this venue, including language and musical classes.
