With skyrocketing energy bills, many households will want to know how much their appliances are costing them over the course of a year.
Some appliances - such as fridges - have to be run year-round, but in other instances people may be able to cut back on consumption where possible.
That may include putting a wash on at a less busy period, which could save money for those on certain tariffs, or opting for the air fryer over the oven every so often.
Currently the price guarantee for electricity is capped at 34p per kWh, and overall average energy bills are sitting at £2,500 a year - up from £1,971 in September.
Research from the consumer experts at Which? has uncovered how much it costs to run your larger appliances following last month's price cap rise.
Tumble dryers
Condenser tumble dryers topped the list with an annual average running cost sitting at £170, but could cost as much as £234. This is in comparison to heat pump tumble dryers which only cost £68 on average each year.
Smart consumers have shared a number of clothes drying hacks, with many recommending hanging up your clothes near a dehumidifier rather than using a tumble dryer.
Washing machines
Washing machines are surprisingly cheap to run, costing just £77 on average.
Some of the more energy-efficient models in the research cost as little as £46 a year, while more expensive washing machines could put you back £115 each year.
As an essential appliance, consumers could save money on washes by opting into money-back schemes that are being run through the winter. The National Grid, OVO, Octopus and British Gas are all offering incentives for off peak energy usage.
Ovens
Ovens are another essential. A built-in double electric oven costs £77 a year on average and a built-in single electric oven costing £80 to run annually.
Separate research carried out by Hometree found that air fryers cost 30p per hour while ovens cost consumers £1.02 per hour, so it may be worth opting for the fryer every now and then if you have one.
Dishwashers
Dishwashers are surprisingly pricey, costing the consumer £96 a year on average according to Which? research. The most expensive annual running cost sat at £127.
You may be able to use dishwashers outside of peak hours, which will cost less if you are on a time of use tariffs.
Households could also receive money back on dishwasher use if they sign up to any of the National Grid, OVO, Octopus or British Gas money-back schemes.
Fridge freezers
Fridge freezers appeared to cost more than many other appliances as they are almost never switched off.
An American-style fridge freezer costs £146 a year on average while a freestanding option puts consumers back £102 each year.
Meanwhile, an integrated fridge freezer was the cheapest, costing £91 to run over a year on average.
Recently a consumer expert recommended putting newspaper - and other household items - in the freezer, as filling the device can save money and energy since there's less air to keep cool.
