There were 432 crimes committed on or around Llanelli streets in just one month according to official figures.
Worryingly, more than half - 221 of the 432 - were violent and sexual offences.
The second most common type of crime was anti-social behaviour. There have been 80 such crimes in that month.

The figures from the Police.UK website for December, 2021, reveal the most crime-ridden area in Llanelli was Tyisha with 105 offences being reported there in just the one month.
Two years ago, a part of Tyisha was listed as the most deprived area in Carmarthenshire by the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation and was the 17th most deprived council ward area in Wales out of nearly 2,000.
The area was ranked as the most deprived Carmarthenshire ward in terms of income, employment, health, education and community safety.
We have analysed the police.UK data from every n eighbourhood in Llanelli, revealing the most crime-ridden streets and where the most offences took place in each area of the town.
Below is a list of 14 neighborhoods in Llanelli with the number of crimes reported in December, 2021, and the streets or areas within them with the highest crime rates.
1. Tyisha
A total of 105 crimes were reported in Tyisha. Fourteen of these were reported on on or near Upper Inkerman Street. There were five violence and sexual offences, four anti-social behaviour, three burglaries and two 'other theft'.
2. Glanymor
There were 85 crimes reported in Glanymor, with the most being on the B4304, where seven crimes were reported. Five related to violence and sexual offences, one to criminal damage and arson, and one public order.
There was also seven crimes reported on or near School Road , Llanelli, six of which related to violence and sexual offences and one to criminal damage and arson.
3. Bigyn
A total of 72 crimes were reported in Bigyn in December, 2021, with the most crimes being reported on or near the shopping area of Parc Trostre reatil park , where 10 crimes were reported; these included four shoplifting, two public order, one anti-social behaviour, one criminal damage and arson, one vehicle crime and one violence and sexual offence.
4. Llanelli Town Centre
Fifty crimes were reported in Llanelli town centre. The area with the most crimes reported was in or near Asda car park in the town centre, with 10. Four were shoplifting, three were violence and sexual offences, two were public order and one was anti-social behaviour.
5. Burry Port
Forty crimes were reported in Burry Port, with the most being reported on or near the area of New Street, Burry Port, where eight crimes were reported including, seven anti-social behaviour and one bicycle theft.
6. Dafen
A total of 33 crimes were reported in Dafen, with the most being on or near Prince Phillip Hospital where there were 11 crimes, this included nine violence and sexual offences and two public order offences.
7. Llwynhendy
There were 32 crimes reported here, four on or near the parking area by Parc Y Scarlets where four crimes were reported, which included three shoplifting and one anti-social behaviour
8. Felinfoel
A total of 24 crimes were reported in Felinfoel with the most being on or near Long Row, Felinfoel, where there were six crimes - five relating to violence and sexual offences and one relating to drugs.
9. Tumble
There were 21 crimes reported here in December, 2021, six on or near Rhosyderi , Tumble , where there were three violence and sexual offences, two anti-social behaviour and one other theft.
10. Llangennech
Fifteen crimes were reported, with two on or near Heol-y-mynydd , which included one other theft and one violence and sexual offences.
Two crimes of violence and sexual offences were also reported on or near Llys Cennech, Llangennech.
11. Bynea
Fifteen crimes were reported in the area of Bynea, with the most being on or near Yspitty Road , Bynea where three crimes were reported including one drug related and two violence and sexual offences.
12. Hendy
Nine crimes were reported in Hendy, with two crimes being recoded on or near M aesderi, Hendy with one anti-social behaviour offence and one public order.
13. Llannon
Eight crimes were reported in Llannon, with the most crimes being reported at Pont Abraham service station where there was one anti-social behaviour, one public order, one shoplifting and one violence and sexual offence.
14. Swiss Valley
Three crimes were reported in Swiss Valley, with one anti-social behaviour on or near Llandyry , Swiss Valley, one violence and sexual offences on or near Llys Westfa, Swiss Valley, and one violence and sexual offence on or near Millfield Road, Felinfoel.
