The greatest thing about custom builds is that they're really only limited by your imagination. Maybe you start out switching a saddle or some grips or a headlight, and then eventually you find yourself sliding down an extremely slippery slope. You get yourself more tools, learn how to weld, maybe find some friends with a tube bender, and you start getting deeper into your passion project than you ever dreamed.
Maybe you do, anyway. It all depends on you, doesn't it?
Anyway, by now you may have seen the insane monster chopper build that the boys at Grind Hard Plumbing Co. created in 2024. And to be clear, that build was insane enough. It started off as a KTM 1190 engine, a pair of absolutely ginormous mud tires, and a stack of metal tubing. But Edwin at GHPC had a vision, and he had the skills (and tools) to bring that vision to life, so he did.
I can't speak for how it looks in person, but on video, the intricate lattice swingarm is a thing of absolute beauty. It's strong as anything, too; and it had to be, because that front wheel and tire alone weighs around 180-ish pounds. That's an entire person worth of weight up front, you guys.
Anyway, it's now winter, and the GHPC guys live in Idaho, where there's snow. And snowbikes, including their own Hayabusa snowbike build.
So naturally, the next question they asked themselves was, will the monster chopper make a good snowbike? One thing's for sure; you're going to lighten up that front end considerably if you swap out that absolutely honking massive front wheel for a little bitty front ski.
How does it do, once it's let loose on both packed and deep snow in the wilds of Utah? Surprisingly well, especially once the rear tire is aired down a little to provide just a bit more traction in the slippery conditions. We don't get to see it jump (unlike the Hayabusa snowbike, which is quite good at jumping in the snow), but it does absolutely rip and look fun as heck to ride.
There's also a guest appearance from a Black Hawk helicopter in this video, officially designated as an experimental vehicle so civilians are allowed to go for a ride. Would you lose your mind if you had the chance to ride in one? Let us know in the comments.
