The moment Winnie Ewing reconvened the Scottish Parliament

IN 1999, the Scottish Parliament was reconvened after being disbanded almost 300 years earlier.

This is the moment that Winnie Ewing, the oldest member of the chamber, opened the Parliament once again following a successful referendum on devolution.

With the words "the Scottish Parliament adjourned on the 25th day of March, in the year 1707, is here-by reconvened", Scotland's path was forever changed.
