The moment King Charles' helicopter lands in Cardiff park for his first visit as monarch

King Charles III has landed in Wales for his first visit as the new monarch. The helicopter carrying King Charles and his wife Camilla landed in Cardiff at around 10.40am on Friday morning ahead of his visit to the Welsh capital.

Preparations have been going on all week ahead of the much-anticipated visit of the King and Queen Consort, their first visit to Wales since Queen Elizabeth II died aged 96 last Thursday. They will first attend a service of prayer and reflection at Llandaff Cathedral this morning before receiving condolences at the Welsh Parliament and meeting members of the Senedd.

They will then travel to Cardiff Castle this afternoon where Charles will hold a private audience with Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford and the presiding officer, before attending a reception hosted by the Welsh Government. You can follow all the latest updates on the King's first visit to Wales on our live blog here.
