The Spring Food Festival

Families will come together to organize this annual multi-cuisine (mostly home-food) festival to raise money for the Sisters of the People society. It runs 18 preschools in the Capital, providing education and healthcare to underprivileged children. Visitors can sample north Indian, south Indian, Rajasthani, Bengali, Continental, Chinese, Thai and Mexican dishes.

This festival of telefilms based on classics will screen Chief Ki Dawat, based on a short story by Bhisham Sahni, and Sirif Ek Cigarette, based on Rajinder Singh Bedi’s short story, on 10 February. On Day 2, watch Nazara Darmiyan Hai, which is based on Qurratulain Hyder’s short story, and Beech Behas Mein, based on a short story by Nirmal Verma. On
the final day, watch Chauthi Ka Joda, based on Ismat Chughtai’s short story, and Mithun, based on another short story by Bedi.

Inner And Outer Lives: The Many Worlds Of Homai Vyarawalla

Presented by the Alkazi Foundation for the Arts and curated by Sabeena Gadihoke, this exhibition is a tribute to Homai Vyarawalla (1913-2012), India’s first woman photojournalist. The works on display, from the late 1930s to the early 1960s, highlight women’s education, emerging technologies, and vignettes of the urban everyday in Mumbai.

Kala Ghoda Arts Festival

For one week all roads in the city will lead to the annual jamboree at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. This year’s highlights include a concert by the Symphony Orchestra of India, conducted by Zane Dalal, workshops for children by sculptor Arzan Khambatta and painter Sunil Padwal, heritage walks and cycling tours, installations, writing workshops, dance performances and book launches.
