The 2024 New York Mets are full of so many memes and quirks.
There’s the association with Grimace. There’s the OMG song and the sign to go with it.
And now there’s … a pumpkin?
That’s right. After Pete Alonso hit a miraculous ninth-inning home run to send the New York Mets to the NLDS round in the MLB playoffs, he carried around a small pumpkin in the clubhouse while celebrating.
What’s the deal here? As Alonso explained, he and his wife went to a farm near Milwaukee and picked this pumpkin. And now it’s a good luck charm that we’re sure to see going forward:

This is the playoff pumpkin. Pete Alonso picked it himself this week at a Wisconsin pumpkin patch. It's now another good-luck charm for the Mets. pic.twitter.com/l7ewDnvu6w
