As Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes took down then-No. 17 TCU on the road in Week 1, there were probably more than few questions floating around the college football world.
Is Colorado for real? Is Shedeur Sanders a Heisman candidate? Is Travis Hunter?
There were also smaller questions like: “What are those ‘L’ and ‘D’ jersey patches on the Buffs jerseys?” Well, wonder no more. Coach Prime showed up on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff show in Boulder this week and explained the mystery and it’s so much more epic than we could have guessed.
The patches represent one of two designations on the team: Leaders and Dawgs.

We’ve seen coaches employ similar tactics (Ohio State’s helmet stickers immediately come to mind), but like everything else with Deion, this just has a different flair. When you see those patches there should be no doubt about what to expect from the players wearing them.
