To the joy of many, the McRib has finally returned to McDonald’s menus in the UK after nearly a decade away.
Debuting on the fast-food chain’s British menu way back in the early Eighties, the burger, which consists of a pork patty, BBQ sauce, pickles and onions – was axed after four years but has since become a cult menu item, returning several times over the decades. Its last appearance on UK menus was in December 2014.
While some McRib fans are happy about the return of the burger – which costs £4.49 on its own or £6.19 as part of a medium meal – others have complained that it seems drier than before. As a recent TikTok showing the McRib’s preparation revealed, staff now squeeze BBQ sauce directly on to the burger, rather than dipping the patty into the tangy sauce.
Whether fans are disappointed in the slight change or just glad to see the burger back on the menu after so long, there are eight more new McDonald’s menu additions for customers to feast on from October 15, spanning hot drinks, sides, desserts and both the breakfast and all-day menus.
What are the new McDonald’s menu items?
- McRib
- Toasted Marshmallow Latte
- Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate
- Cheese Bites
- Mini Hash Browns
- Toffee Apple Pie
- M&M’s McFlurry
- Galaxy Caramel McFlurry
- McCrispy Deluxe
Returning favourites include last year’s Toffee Apple Pie and the M&M’s and Galaxy Caramel McFlurrys, while the rest of the additions are brand new. According to a representative for McDonald’s, the McRib’s presence on the UK menu isn’t permanent andd the burger is only available while stocks last.
