The McGregor & Carter-Vickers stats that epitomise their Celtic consistency

Celtic dominated Hibs in their 2-0 victory at Easter Road on Sunday, with Callum McGregor and Cameron Carter-Vickers two particular standouts for the visitors.

As has been the case over the last few years, the pair have been two of Celtic's most consistent players, with both men playing vital roles in the seven out of nine trophies the Parkhead side have won between 2021 and this year.

As far as the eye-test goes, both players are among Celtic's very best, but when the numbers are laid bare, the input the club captain and commanding centre-back have week-in, week-out comes into sharp focus.

As per Dataref.net, here are some of McGregor's most basic numbers versus Hibs on Sunday:

Callum McGregor

  • 1 goal
  • Most recoveries (9)
  • 70/76 successful passes
  • 4/5 duels won
  • Zero fouls committed

And here are some of Carter-Vickers':

Cameron Carter-Vickers

  • Most clearances (6)
  • 7/8 duels won
  • 103/110 successful passes
  • Zero fouls committed

With that, as per The Celtic Way's player ratings from Sunday, here's what Ryan McGinlay said about McGregor:

"People are supposed to wind down when they retire (internationally)! The skipper was solid again in other areas of the pitch, but his shining moment was the 25-yard screamer he unleashed in the 19th minute, which left the Hibs keeper with no chance as it landed in his right-hand corner.

"A thunderbolt which doubled Celtic’s advantage at the time, McGregor stepped up to the plate and inserted himself in the 'Goal of the Season' candidates in just the second week of action! What a goal, and what a captain. Brilliant again from number 42."

And here's what The Celtic Way said about Carter-Vickers:

"Solid as usual from Celtic’s number 20, Carter-Vickers strutted his stuff at the back for the duration of this contest. More of a playmaker at the back in the first half, he would be called into action more after the restart and dealt with everything that managed to come his way.

"Having a fit Carter-Vickers at the start of the season is a blessing that the club have not had for a lot of his Celtic career, so it is little surprise that they look so comfortable at the back when he is around. Another solid performance from the colossus."
