Two rounds have been completed at The Masters in 2025 and a whole host of surprising storylines have been produced already, from all five amateurs missing the cut to Rory McIlroy's heroic comeback in pursuit of the career Grand Slam.
Halfway leader, Justin Rose was picked by very few to be in this position at any stage - let alone with just 36 holes left to play - but he leads by one while Bernard Langer and Fred Couples almost did it for the old guard by squeezing through to the weekend, only to fall narrowly short.
In terms of pre-tournament betting, several big names including Brooks Koepka and Russell Henley missed the cut having been tipped to do well at Augusta National. But for the most part, the stars with the shortest prices remain in the thick of things at the first men's Major of the season.
Prior to round three, McIlroy's chances of success are second only to Scheffler - the same order before a ball was struck - and priced the same as DeChambeau ahead of a possible US Open rematch on Sunday.
Below, we have all of the in-play outright winner odds for the leading players as well as our picks to win and make a late charge up the leaderboard.

The Masters Betting Picks

Winner: Rory McIlroy (+330)
McIlroy could easily be 11-under-par had he birdied 15 and parred 17 on Thursday. He is simply playing better golf than anyone this year and he has carried that form into Augusta. He’s already had a fairly big slip up but his comeback on Friday was exceptional.
This certainly feels like a new McIlroy, who will have learned an awful lot from St Andrews in 2022, LACC in 2023 and Pinehurst in 2024. I believe Bryson DeChambeau will pose a very stern challenge, but McIlroy is well overdue a Major to go his way. In my heart of hearts, I believe it could be this weekend.
Dark Horse: Max Homa (+100000)
The six-time PGA Tour winner was apparently something like 7 or 8-under-par for the front nine on Sunday during practice, according to the No Laying Up podcast earlier this week. From what we’re hearing, it sounds like he’s starting to re-find his game but just isn’t able to do it when he has a scorecard in his hand.
That looks like it changed on Friday, where he shot a brilliant two-under-par 70. With his new caddie and a promising start at Augusta, it looks like he has his confidence back - I loved seeing him walk in putts during round two. I think he can easily go and climb the leaderboard this weekend.

Winner: Rory McIlroy (+330)
After his first round, where he made double-bogeys at the 15th and 17th, I felt that McIlroy was out of it. However, on Friday, the four-time Major winner showed grit and determination.
I don't want to jinx him, but I feel that McIlroy will maintain his momentum going in to Saturday and Sunday. He looked in control on Friday and, with a six-under 66, it's clear that McIlroy's game is still there. He's on-course for the career Grand Slam and, if he cleans up the mistakes, I feel he'll be a Green Jacket winner on Sunday.
Dark Horse: Tommy Fleetwood (+10000)
Fleetwood's record at Augusta National is superb, with the Englishman claiming a tie for third last year after a gutsy final round. Currently, he is two-under and six back of Ryder Cup teammate, Justin Rose, but why I have picked him is due to his weekend Major form, with the 34-year-old known to make a charge on Saturday and Sunday.
Last year, he carded a three-under final round to finish T3rd, with Fleetwood's final round 63 at the US Open in 2023 putting him inside the top-five. He's chasing the leader and is due a big result, hence why I feel he'll be one to watch over the weekend.

Winner: Scottie Scheffler (+400)
It's not the story a lot of people want, but I think it might be the story we end up getting. This pick is more about the marginally better value that Scheffler offers at this point compared to McIlroy. The Northern Irishman is +330 while his American rival is +400. It's not a lot, but I feel my dollar is slightly safer with the guy who has won two Green Jackets in the past three years and hasn't even played that well so far yet is only three strokes off the lead.
My biggest concern with McIlroy is still that psychological aspect, and while he was sublime on Friday, Thursday showed me the frailties which lie just below the surface. It's out of those two, for me, but his higher price gives Scheffler the nod.
Dark Horse: Joaquin Niemann (+100000)
There's a dark horse and then there's this. Niemann heads into the weekend dead last of all the players to make the cut, but I picked him as my favorite pre-tournament and I'm sticking to my guns now. With little to no pressure on his shoulders, the Chilean still has the game and form to shoot a seriously low score at Augusta National.
He has a couple of top-20s on his C.V. already, and two early starts on a slightly softer golf course might give the LIV man a chance to go low. If he can make the top-10, which he is currently priced at just +1000 to do, then I'd call that a great weekend for the Chilean. Vamos Joaquin!

Winner: Rory McIlroy (+330)
I tipped Rory McIlroy before the tournament started, and I am sticking to my guns after a solid second round. If Rory can manage his emotions in the pursuit of a first Green Jacket, and the Career Grand Slam, I believe the rest will take care of itself. He is playing his best golf for a long time, and it feels like the stars are aligning for McIlroy.
Dark Horse: Justin Thomas (+27000)
JT has always got a low round in him, and after tying the course record at TPC Sawgrass for the Players Championship a few weeks ago, I believe he could get on one of his famous heaters over the weekend.
He has six top-25 finishes at The Masters, and while he might be too far back to slip on the Green Jacket on Sunday, he certainly has enough in the tank to surge up the leaderboard.
