The Masked Singer winner Charlie Simpson's children 'confused' as dad unveiled as Rhino

Former Busted band member Charlie Simpson won over the nation when he became the first man to win The Masked Singer UK as the loveable Rhino. Performing hits such as Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and Try by P!nk, Rhino/Charlie quickly became very popular on the show.

Many fans, and judge Davina McCall, guessed that Charlie was Rhino pretty quickly and early in the show. While speaking on the ITV morning show Lorraine Charlie said that his children "knew straight away" he was Rhino but one part confused them.

He said his children couldn't understand how he was sitting next to them on the sofa watching the telly while also appearing on the TV. Charlie said: "I did try and keep it a secret but the first moment that we watched it as a family my two boys, Arlo and Jago, literally were like 'that is you daddy'. Especially Jago could not be swayed."

He added: "The reason that they questioned it was because it was filmed a while ago it is not actually live, they couldn't figure out how I was watching it with them and I was in the TV that sort of flummoxed them a bit but throughout the whole time they were like 'I know it is you, daddy I know it is you'."

Charlie beat Natalie Appleton, who was Fawn, and Ricky Wilson, who was Phoenix, in the final of the show to become the 2023 Masked Singer winner. After being unmasked and crowned the winner of the show, he said: "I was terrified the entire time. The thing I was scared most of was remembering lyrics. I often forget lyrics to my own songs on stage, so Try, the last version of Try I did, was the only time I didn't really think about it and I tried to enjoy it."
