The Masked Singer UK officially has its 2023 semi-finalists after Knitting and Otter were unmasked in a double elimination on Saturday, February 4. Knitting was unveiled to be Steps singer Claire Richards while comedian Daisy May Copper was behind Otter.
Now just five remain in the game, including Rhino, Jellyfish, Phoenix, Jacket Potato and Fawn, and while many are convinced Busted singer Charlie Simpson is behind Rhino, while All Saints star Nicola Appleton is a popular guess for Fawn, Phoenix has left many viewers at home scratching their heads over their identity.
During week six of the competition, a clues package saw Phoenix say: "I fear deep water, but diving that's another thing," their VT also included the deadheading of roses and an extra clue simply offered the date of 2006.

Judges' guesses included Anton Du Beke, Paddy McGuinness, David Tennant, and Michael Ball, while a popular guess on social media includes Kaiser Chiefs vocalist and percussionist Ricky Wilson. Unravelling the clues, one fan speculated: "Almost certain Phoenix is @Rickontour. Rose heads being plucked in the VT - they have a song called Roses and an album called Off with their Heads, 2006 clue - Kaiser Chiefs won BRIT awards. Could still be wrong."
However, another emerging favourite on social media is Welsh legend, Michael Sheen. One viewer stated: "I swear that Phoenix is Michael Sheen… he can imitate David Tennant & throw people of the scent for sure! Also sounds like him to me."
While another added: "People are guessing David Tennant for Phoenix, but that voice... its not Michael Sheen, is it?" And a third commented: "Is Phoenix Michael Sheen, the Welsh actor? He's throwing us a curve ball with us thinking it's David Tennant."
As a fourth suggested: "PHOENIX: I do not know who this is. Every week I'm totally flummoxed. This week's suggestion is Michael Sheen. Wasn't he in Dr Who? He's had a big acting career. There was a coach in the VT - didn't he give a speech to the Welsh team?"
