The Masked Singer's Mushroom 'identified' ahead of final after new clue

The Masked Singer UK officially has its 2022 finalists.

It comes after Traffic Cone and Rockhopper were unmasked to reveal Welsh singer Aled Jones and Destiny Child's Michelle Williams in the penultimate episode. You can see a full list of who has left The Masked Singer so far here.

Now just Mushroom, Robobunny and Panda remain after keeping judges Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan guessing for the last seven weeks.

And while the identity of the three remaining celebrities won't be officially revealed until their masks are off, many viewers at home are convinced they've rumbled Mushroom.

A popular name on social media is Welsh singer and songwriter Charlotte Church.

Mushroom performed a rendition of Jade's Don't Walk Away and a stunning version of Jennifer Rush's The Power of Love on Saturday night.

In their latest clue package, Mushroom said: "We see and hear everything and when we think it's the right time you'll hear us speak up.

"I'm not afraid to use my voice to give to support to the things I believe in. In fact I think it's important that people who can, do.

"I once gave a speech to a quarter of a million people, it's important to stand up for what you believe in and to protect the things you love."

After watching the VT and performance, judge Mo guessed: "You're definitely a singer and use your platform to speak up on issues, and there is a name I said last week, I think it's Charlotte Church."

Many viewers at home agreed, with one writing: "I'm convinced Mushroom is Charlotte Church because of the voice but the clue about a speech to 250,000 people and the activism clues."

Mushroom's second song left Rita and Jonathan also guessing Charlotte Church after an incredible operatic note at the end of the performance blew them away. Guest judge Dame Joan Collins also suggested the celebrity was classically trained.

And viewers at home agreed, with one writing: "Mushroom can sing! That last bit was Charlotte Church."

While another added: "With this final song, there's surely no way Mushroom is anyone other than Charlotte Church."

And a third commented: "Charlotte Church for mushroom. What a voice! The ease she got to that top note at the end. Wow."

It comes after a number clue last week also had fans suggesting Charlotte Church.

"Watching The Masked Singer UK and I think I worked out who Mushroom is through those numbers - 345997," one fan explained. "On a phone keypad, e g l w y s - Cymraeg am 'Church'. It HAS to be @charlottechurch! Even Mo thinks so!! Or maybe I'm overthinking this…"

Another added: "Can I just say that if you put 345997 into the old fashioned phone (where you click a number several times to get a letter), if you put that number into an old fashioned phone you get eglwys. So go into google translate now and search up what eglwys means in eng!"

Other guesses from the judges have included Lily Allen, Sheridan Smith and Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall.

The Masked Singer UK returns for the final on Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
