The Masked Singer's Joel Dommett 'lets slip' winner as he teases final reaction

The Masked Singer’s Joel Dommett has given fans a sneak hint of who the 2022 winner of the ITV show could be ahead of this weekend’s final.

The 36-year-old appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Thursday to discuss the finale of the singing battle airing this Saturday, February 12, which will welcome back contestants from the first two series.

The judging panel will add last year’s winner Joss Stone, who was unmasked as Sausage in 2021, alongside Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross and Rita Ora.

Joel Dommett, who was also on presenting duties last year, said Joss’s voice had been “absolutely incredible”.

Host Lorraine Kelly, 62, noted that Joel already knows who has won the hit celebrity singing competition as it was pre-recorded, asking if he was happy with the outcome.

He said: “I was very, very happy with the outcome. It’s such a special final. I think it’s just all out madness, silliness, great guest judge.”

He told Lorraine: “I think the three finalists are the three that deserved to be in the final this year. I think they’re very very good.

“One person in particular - I’m not going to give it away - but, I lose my mind. I lose my mind. It comes out of nowhere.”

Although Joel now knows the winner, he said he had no idea who was under each costume throughout this year’s run of the show.

He said: “It’s very strange from my perspective and they don’t care who I think it is now.

“But I get people properly shouting at me in the street. I think people are shouting abuse, and then I realise they’re shouting ‘who’s Traffic Cone?’”

Lorraine treated viewers to a sneak peak of the finale this weekend, airing a preview of all The Masked Singer contestants in their costumes performing Lady Gaga’s hit song ‘The Edge of Glory’ during the final.

Lorraine said: “Clearly all of you got on really well, the panel just works. Davina and Jonathan are mummy and daddy and then everyone else is naughty.”

Joel replied: “Everybody on the whole production loves being a part of it. It’s infectious.

“How weird is TV now? It’s so odd. I love it, just guessing who’s in that thing.”

The Masked Singer is also ramping up for an arena tour, which will include guest judges such as Denise Van Outen and see new celebrity reveals at every show date.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
