The Forest Recreational Ground is set to undergo a magical transformation this summer as it is visited by a traveling Thai events company. The event will 'bring a little corner of Thailand to your doorstep'.
The family-friendly event has a full line-up of Thai street food, arts and crafts, dancers along with incredible Muay Thai demonstrations. Muay Thai is a martial art that combines stand-up striking with various other techniques that use fists, elbows, knees and shins.
There will be performance or two by spectacular Thai Ladyboys although the event is not connected to the Ladyboys of Bangkok who are also in Nottingham this summer. There will also be an ‘I’m British, Get me out of here’ eating competition which in the past has featured chicken feet, frogs and scorpions in previous years

For fans of Thai beer, there will be plenty on offer to enjoy while experiencing the culture. There will be plenty to watch from action-packed sword fighting shows and pre-war dances. Families with little ones will be glad to note that there will also be children's rides.
As well as arts and crafts, the event will feature a Buddhist monk blessing ceremony, Thai fashion shows and massage. The touring event has brought a little bit of Thai culture to major cities since 2012.
This year's tour list includes Poole, Basingstoke, Manchester, Warwick, Nottingham, Norwich, Cambridge, Bournemouth, Brighton and London. This is not Magic of Thailand's first visit to Nottingham as the event was previously held in the same location in 2019.
The event was first launched in 2012 in Poole in Dorset by Jackie Winitkun, who moved from Thailand to Bournemouth in 2002, and her partner Daniel Biggs. The pair, who now live in London, have since expanded the event to cities across the UK and it will be running in ten locations this summer.
Ms Winitkun said: "Thailand has a lot to offer and my motivation for starting the festival was to bring a mini Thailand to people's doorsteps. "It is a lot cheaper than a flight and a fun, affordable day out for all the family and a great way to get children to see and experience other cultures."
Speaking about the festival's return to the city, she added: "I have to say I love Nottingham and in terms of how people respond to our event it is the best place for us and we have sold the most online tickets there so far."
