The luxury glamping pods on the edge of the Lake District with their own private hot tubs

Picture the scene: you’re sipping on a glass of bubbly while soaking in a hot tub and looking up at the stars. After a restful night’s sleep in a cosy wooden cabin, you spend the next day exploring the beautiful landscape of the Howgill fells in Cumbria.

It may sound too good to be true, but this rural retreat is exactly what you’ll find at a luxury glamping site which sits between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales national parks. Less than two hours’ drive from Manchester, The Pods by the Stream at Flakebridge Farm is listed by Pitchup.com as one of the top-rated campsites in the region.

Each wooden ‘pod’ features its own outdoor hot tub, a patio area and a fire pit, perfect for sitting out on a warm summer’s evening or to admire the stars on a clear autumnal night. The pods themselves are fully powered with their own water supply, en-suite bathroom, kitchenette - ideal if you’re not keen on traditional camping and like to have a few home comforts.

The pods sleep four with a double bed and a sofa bed which sleeps either one adult or two children. There’s no faffing around with blowing up airbeds or getting stuck in sleeping bags.

Guests are greeted with a welcome pack on arrival which includes tea, coffee, sugar and milk while the pod is filled with little touches to make your stay special - think soft, fluffy towels and cosy slippers. You can also buy English breakfast kits which can be cooked in the pod’s kitchenette, just what you need to fuel up before going on a walk through the surrounding countryside.

As the pods are based on a working farm you may spot a few animals during your stay. The site is run by husband and wife team Andrew and Emma who make sure you’ve got everything you need.

There’s plenty to see and do nearby and it’s the ideal base for exploring the surrounding countryside. You can walk directly to Langdale Fell straight from the farm if you fancy a hike, while Lake Windermere is around a 40 minute drive away.

Prices start at £140 per night for two adults, with a minimum two-night stay. For more information visit here.
